Adult Art Therapy Services ~ ages 23+

Philadelphia Art Therapy Associates, for adult clients ages twenty and up, is a diverse group of adult therapists striving to build a better world abundant with love, compassion, empathy, and benevolent interdependence. We believe that everyone deserves to be safe, feel well, and find meaning and contentment in this life. Sometimes circumstances conspire to make things difficult for us to get there. We’re here to help.

Art Therapy for adults looks very different than art therapy for children. You don’t need to be a good artist to participate and succeed in art therapy. It is simply a different way to communicate, and it may surprise you. Art-making can be a relaxing break from the hectic pace of life, and art-making alone is a form of self-care.

What’s more, the image you make in art therapy is like a third person in the room who knows you better than you know yourself. It is a mirror to your feelings and your soul, and simply by making a mark or squeezing a blob of clay, you externalize something that you can explore with your art therapist.

Art Therapy for adults bypasses all those verbal defenses and habits that keep you stuck in anxiety, depression, painful relationships or work situations. By making an external representation of it, you gain emotional distance. Discussing it with an empathetic and highly trained adult art therapist, you gain new perspectives on problems. This new perspective leads to insight, and insight leads to healing, choice, and personal freedom. Check us out, won’t you?

We work out of the same offices as CFATC: Haverford, Paoli, Plymouth Meeting, and Center City, Philadelphia.
