About The Child & Family Art Therapy Center
Founder, Executive, & Clinical Director
Our work is built on true Clinical Love, seeing who each person is on the inside, accepting them as they are, and giving them what they need.
That’s what brought Mike here more than 30 years ago. Parents call him Mike. Kids call him Mr. Mike, and he wears that title proudly. Long before credentials, programs, and big “about” paragraphs, he was a kid who noticed pain in others and felt pulled to help. He grew up in a family rooted in service, care, and responsibility to one another, and he learned early that real support starts with acceptance, not judgment.
When he found art therapy, everything clicked. Kids do not always have the words, but they always have a way to communicate. Through art, play, stories, and imagination, they can show you what is going on, and practice new ways of coping, connecting, and growing. What started as a calling became a lifelong mission, and eventually became The Child and Family Art Therapy Center.
Today, Mike leads a team of warm, highly trained specialists who bring that same spirit into every session. Together, we have built award-winning programs, including The Art of Friendship Social-Coping Program and Camp Pegasus, and we share our approach through trainings, talks, and podcast conversations, because families deserve support that actually makes sense in real life.
Here, therapy is engaging, practical, and deeply human. We don’t “fix” kids. We help them express freely, build skills that stick, and wrap support around the whole family so progress shows up at home, at school, and in everyday relationships.
Clinical Love isn’t fluffy. It is action. It is patience, structure, and follow-through, meeting your child or teen exactly where they are today, while keeping a steady, hopeful eye on tomorrow.
Our Mission:
The Child and Family Art Therapy Center aims to make the world better, one child and one family at a time.
We work hard to be the place where kids and teens actually want to show up, feel safe, and do real healing through art, play, and connection. And we work just as hard to be the place where parents feel welcomed, supported, and never alone, with practical guidance throughout the process.
The Heart Behind Our Work:

The Golden Rule
We treat families the way we would want to be treated, with care, urgency, and deep respect. If you are worried and need answers, we show up promptly, clearly, and thoughtfully.

Strive for Greatness
There’s no average care or one-size-fits-all treatment. We tailor therapy with intention, creativity, and clinical skill, so each child and family gets exactly what they need, when they need it.

Person-Centered Care
We believe every adult, teen, and child has the capacity to heal and grow. We meet you where you are with real respect, trust that you are doing your best, and support agency, choice, and steady progress.
Our Approach
How Our Therapy & Parent Training Works

Launch with Connection
We start with a simple, three-step getting-to-know-you process that helps therapy feel safe, comfortable, and even inviting for your child and your family.

Build Real Momentum
Next, we meet with you for feedback and planning, so we can name what’s happening beneath the surface, set clear goals, and share the first home strategies that help progress stick.

Soar Toward Success
Therapy continues with regular check-ins to celebrate growth, adjust goals, and support new needs as your child builds coping skills, confidence, and resilience.
