I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and families who are navigating social challenges, emotional regulation, life transitions, and neurodiversity-related concerns. Many parents come to me feeling worried, discouraged, or even overwhelmed—knowing their child is capable, yet watching them struggle with friendships, confidence, flexibility, anxiety, or behavior at home or school. These challenges can leave parents feeling stuck and unsure of what will help.

My work centers on helping children and teens feel understood, safe, and supported through creative, highly individualized therapy. Using art, play, humor, and conversation, I show my caring for each child’s most comfortable way to communicate. This is what builds trust and gives children meaningful ways to express complex emotions, strengthen coping skills, and grow more confident in relationships. I believe that we can solve serious challenges together using playful materials and methods!

For nearly three decades, I have specialized in working with neurodivergent children, including those with autism, ADHD, and learning differences. This work led me to create The Art of Friendship® Social-Coping Program and Camp Pegasus, holistic social skills and social-emotional learning programs that help children feel accepted and appreciated – and practice skills in fun, memorable, and usable ways. I often tell families that social skills are for everyone. I preach that learning how to better get along with others and connect changes lives…and may be the secret to a better world and world peace!

Supporting parents is a vital part of my work. For children and tweens, parents are equipped to provide support at home by joining your child in session for the first 15 minutes to learn the coping skill language. We also hold periodic parent-only support/treatment update meetings. When adults understand their child’s behavior and feel equipped with practical tools, stress decreases and connection grows. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is sharing the relief and genuine joy parents feel when they see their child succeed and their family feel better—often in ways they once worried might not be possible.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-Certified Art Therapist, founder of the Child and Family Art Therapy Center and the BetterWorld Accessible Therapy Program, and the author of The Social-Emotional Guidebook. I believe deeply in every child’s capacity to heal, grow and thrive, and I would be honored to support your family on that journey.

Outside of work, I live just outside Philadelphia, PA with my wife, our two children, and Ruby, our spirited Coton puppy. In my free time, you’ll often find me on my bike, enjoying a great slice of pizza, painting with acrylics, or playing the drums (loudly and unskillfully). I love comic books, all things comedy, progressive rock (especially Yes, Genesis, and Rush), college basketball, and cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. Go Birds!
